Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career/accomplishments. What do you love most about what you do?
I own a small content development business, Moore Words Inc., which helps companies of all sizes and industries plan and develop content that is curated for a B2B or B2C audience. The content ranges from social media posts to white papers to articles for custom publications. We also offer editing and proofing services. I’m most proud of our range of clients, which includes businesses led by solo entrepreneurs to multi-billion-dollar, international organizations. There was a time when I personally coveted a byline, but now I care more about developing messaging that helps businesses grow and be their very best. Profiles of people and destinations are among our favorite topics. While Moore Words has tackled content for a variety of industries, we excel at copy writing and editing within the travel & leisure, destination marketing, wellness, general interest, grocery, and B2B sectors. Additionally, Moore Words partners with a marketing research firm out of Atlanta to develop questionnaires, analyze qualitative and quantitative data, conduct interviews, and write reports.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants or breweries in our community?
Oh, it’s hard to pin down a favorite brewery in Golden! Each one has its unique attributes and my choice depends on mood, how much time I have, and who I’m hanging out with. For restaurants, I enjoy Abejas, particularly for brunch, D’Deli for its amazing Oxford sandwich, and Sherpa House for its saag paneer.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived and worked in Golden since moving here in 2009.
Q: What is one of your favorite hiking or biking trails?
I spend a lot of time on the Tucker Gulch Trail since it’s easily accessible from my home, and my youngest son likes to visit the Fairy Garden south of First Street. When I have time, I enjoy doing the full loop around Golden, of which Tucker Gulch is a part. I also like to push myself–and my heart–on the steep incline of North Table, which my husband and I have nicknamed The Trudge, but snakes make my toes curl, so I leave it to others once summer hits. Instead, we drive deeper into the mountains for weekend hikes.
Q: What advice would you give to yourself 10 years ago?
Ten years ago, I was already in the best place! And life has been amazing ever since. How about 20 years ago? Move to Colorado instead of Montana.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
When I first moved here, there was a bookstore. Unfortunately, it couldn’t compete with Barnes & Noble at Denver West and closed. Still, I appreciated that the owner was there; he loved books, could talk about them intelligently, and popping into his store felt like an escape of sorts. Now, I get that experience from our wonderful Golden library.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Golden’s strong connection to beer makes it unique. We started as a gold mining center; now we are a center of liquid gold–not only because of Coors, but also because of our numerous award-winning craft breweries.
Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
One of the interesting things that defines me these days is that I have a 22-year-old son, who was 9 when moved to Golden, and a 3-year-old, who is a true Colorado native. The span in years between the boys, and the fact that I will be a full-time parent for 40 years, simultaneously makes people chuckle and feel empathetically exhausted.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
The kindness of other people, often in my community, inspires me to be better.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
I have lived in Golden longer than any other place in my life. It is truly my HOME: love, stability, and personal growth.
