Why We Love YOURTOWN - The Faces of Golden

Why do I love Golden? Because I have so many great days like today. Today, after getting my family ready for their work/school day, I decided to go to an amazing Pilates class at Connect. I left feeling taller, happier, and calm, then drove over to Bonfire Burrito to grab my favorite, the Chupacabra to-go, then picked up a few items we needed at Natural Grocers Vitamin Cottage and went to work. A few hours later I took a quick lunch break and a lovely dog walk on North Table Mountain. Later, I picked up my daughter from school and dropped her at Virtuosity Dance Center for class, where she has been taking classes for the past six years, worked for a couple more hours and then finished my day watching a stunning sunset while we grilled dinner on our deck. It was a beautiful autumn day, 60 degrees and sunny in November! Every day is different for me, but so many of my days are filled by balancing work and family while enjoying Golden’s natural beauty/open spaces/trails and patronizing our beloved businesses. I moved to Golden in the year 2000 from Atlanta GA. I wanted a small town to raise my two boys in the foothills of Colorado! Golden has everything we wanted for the outdoor lifestyle. Golden has so many hiking trails and dog friendly parks. We love biking around town as well as enjoying so many great restaurants. I personally love all the vintage/thrift shops and breweries. It is a community that appreciates Golden for all that it is—scenic, historic, innovative, family-friendly, supportive, creative, entrepreneurial, and so much more. Since 1859, people have been laying literal and figurative roots here. Why? Well, the reasons vary by person, but in short, it’s because people feel at HOME here—HOME in the sense of warmth, security, peace, and grounding. Relationships are forged here. Life’s big (and small) events unfold here. We wave at each other from our front porches and back decks. We say hello while shopping and dining in our quaint downtown or while walking the path along Clear Creek. In short, a sense of comfortable familiarity pervades this valley sanctuary, tucked between two mesas and the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. And we take pride in calling it HOME.
