Hello all. Of my nearly eight decades, I am happy to say that I have been here in Golden for five,
moving to Golden in 1974. Originally a Buckeye/Ohio, we moved many times with our two
kids. Thankfully, our kids were able to grow up and attend Golden Schools, and my daughter
and son, and step-daughter, either live in Golden, or still own a home in Golden. I currently live
in our beautiful downtown.
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career/accomplishments. What do you love most about what you do?
My career consisted of 37+ years of hospital-based nursing without a court appearance. I was Mitchell PTA president in the mid-70’s and helped with Table Mountain Soccer. Later, I took Leadership Golden, and then volunteered at the Golden Visitor Center. After retirement in 2000, I looked at other ways to be engaged in the community. I ran for Golden City Council in 2003, took office in January of 2004 and ended up serving District 2 for eight years. Serving the city in that way was a real eye opener to what all is involved in the running of a small city. From day one, it was a learning experience. While on City Council, I also worked with a County group and a State group, representing Golden. Since my Councilor days, I have tried to stay involved in Golden by doing volunteer work at the Visitor Center and with the Golden Chamber Events, as well as being part of the Citizens Budget Advisory Committee/CBAC and the Downtown Development Authority/DDA. I am committed, with friends, to keeping the Creek Trail free of trash. I have also served 10 years with our HOA and recently received the 2022 Volunteer of the Year recognition from our Golden Chamber of Commerce. I love serving and being a part of this community.
