My name is Jen Toohill, and my husband and I own Bob’s Atomic Burgers. In 2001, we bought our house in Golden that was built at the turn of the century. Luckily Bob was a carpenter, and my dad was an architect. It took 23 years, but our house is almost complete. We had our first daughter, Maggie, in 2005 and had our second daughter, Samantha, in 2008. I grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee and went to the University of Tennessee. I am the youngest of four daughters. My sisters and I are close, and we spent years caring for our parents, who lived in Seabrook Island, South Carolina. They have both since passed. I learned my work ethics from my dad.
I moved to Boulder, Colorado, in 1999 and waited tables at Boulder Beer. Shortly after my move, I met Bob and he introduced to me to Colorado and all the outdoor activities. My favorite outdoor activity is backcountry skiing. I love the Rocky Mountains!
Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career/accomplishments. What do you love most about what you do?
Currently, I am a restaurant owner, which is my biggest career accomplishment. I never thought my career would be a business owner. We have owned Bob’s Atomic Burgers for 12 years. Before that, I was a group fitness instructor. What I love most about owning a business is making an impact on the young people we have hired. We still have some of our original staff. When we hire new kids, I tell them, “We are a family here at Bob’s.” I think that is part of a charm at Bob’s.

Sherpa House and El Amigos. Favorite Brewery – Golden City Brewery! But I love all of them: Mountain Toad, Cannonball, Barrels & Bottles, and New Terrain.
