I’m married, with one adult daughter. I’ve lived in Golden since 1987. I live in the East Street neighborhood.

I’m the owner and publisher of GoldenToday.com–a local news and events website. I’ve been covering Golden since 2007!

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career/accomplishments. What do you love most about what you do?
I worked in the technology sector when the first internet browser was released. My team and I built some of the earliest websites. When my company offered a buy-out, I took it and began building websites for Golden-based businesses and non-profit organizations. In 2007, there was no single website that covered Golden’s businesses, cultural organizations, and city meetings, so I decided to build one–thus, GoldenToday was born. I love knowing so much about community events, and I love ensuring that Golden’s citizens are informed about their city government. I enjoy supporting Golden’s cultural organizations and our many non-profits.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants or breweries in our community?
My favorite brewery is Golden City. It was the first of our craft breweries, makes great beer, and has a permanent place in my heart. I like dining in the historic downtown, so when I eat out, I generally go to the Buffalo Rose, Golden Mill, or Miners Alley. I’ve also been enjoying Morris and Mae, with its interesting array of food vendors.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I moved here in 1987 and established my business in Golden in 1997.

Q: What is one of your favorite hiking or biking trails?
Definitely the Clear Creek trail! The Peaks to Plains trail has been a delightful addition to that walk.

Q: What advice would you give to yourself 10 years ago?
Whatever you’re fretting about right now, you’ll work through it and it will pass.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
I will always miss Meyer Hardware. That store was the solution to many of life’s problems. I feel nostalgic about The Fair Five and Ten Cent store. That’s one of the reasons I like visiting Baby Doe’s–it still has the old wooden floors from the dime store, and that great Wrigley’s advertising mural that they uncovered when they remodeled.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
The scenery here is magnificent, and I never tire of enjoying the mountains and the creek. More important, though, are all the friends I’ve made in my years here.

Q: What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
That I have a rapier-like wit? Possibly, that’s just aspirational.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My family: I always want to be a better wife, mother, and sibling. My readers: I always want to bring them more interesting, engaging news about Golden.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Family. Fun. Comfort.
